Friends,
I hope this note finds you well!
I have been noticeably slower in my writing for the first part of this year, but am well under way preparing a new series over the summer that I’m excited to share with you.
We’ve surveyed hundreds of topics together spanning thousands of years and dozens of traditions. Chances are, if you are curious about any philosophical topic, you can find something to explore here in our archive.
But over the next few months, I want to share something which I have avoided to this point: the personal philosophy I’ve cobbled together for myself after studying and writing intently for the last 3 years.
To put it another way, I want to offer to you my take on wisdom.
This series will be about sharing what I’ve discovered in the hopes it will prove useful to you. I hope you take what helps, and leave what doesn’t.
This series isn’t about proving my worldview superior to others, or making a claim to what is “right.” In fact, my first premise is that there is no “sacred mountain” to ascend or source of truth to mine. Rather, what I will share is an evolving set of principles which are destined to change upon new experiences and evidence.
I would much rather connect with you reader by sharing ideas that I typically hold close to the chest, than I would be in persuading you this way or that.
By the end of the summer, we will cover the 3 primary tools I use for navigating the world today:
Epistemic Humility
Evidence & Materialism
Imagination
So stay tuned for essays dropping in the coming months, I look forward to sharing with you and hearing your feedback.
Until then,
Matt
Excellent! Looking forward to this, Matt!
